LG G2 is the beastly smart phone that is LG's answer to Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. To reinstate LG as a leading player on the smart phone scene, LG G2 features an array of high-end innards-- a 13-megapixel camera, a 2.26GHz quad-core CPU and an impressively large 3,000mAh battery.
Has LG G2 has something impress you? Read on to find out.
Glossy, smooth, and thin, the device measures 5.45 inches tall, 2.79 inches wide, and 0.35 inch thick. It's a full millimeter thicker than iPhone 5S or Galaxy S4, and more than 30g weightier than iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Fortunately, it never feels bulky or uncomfortable in the hand.
Like Samsung Galaxy S4, LG G2 is let down by a plastic body that feels flimsy in parts. It's innovative that the LG G2 relocates all physical controls to the phone's rear, with the volume rocker and power/lock buttons now sat directly beneath the camera lens.
LG G2 features 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution and 423 ppi density. The images are incredibly crisp and bright. Color are vibrant and accurate. It is easy to look at the display in the sunlight. The screen's touch panel is responsive, with no undue lag or hesitation meeting any of the gesture commands. One of drawback of screen is not without the blemish. But it's only slight issue.
This phone ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. letting you have all the features and functions you would want and expect from a high-end phone. You can get numerous apps provided by Google and your Carrier.
LG G2 has a outstanding feature called KnockON, you don't need to actually press the power key to switch the phone on and off. A simple double tap of the screen will bring it to life.
The G2 has a great 13-megapixel shooter with optical image stabilisation (OIS). OIS means that videos are kept smooth and mostly shake-free and the G2 is able to shoot in up to 1080p quality at 60 fps. The 2 Mp front facing camera also offers great quality imagery with up to 1080p video at 30 fps.
There's no dedicated camera key on the G2 which is a shame but the camera takes high quality photos and videos nevertheless.
Equipped with 2.26GHz CPU with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of DDR3 RAM, LG's performance is excellent. In normal, everyday use, there is never any lag and it certainly doesn't ever crash. Apps open quickly, and transitioning between apps is a breeze.
Call quality was great. None of my calls dropped, no extraneous buzzing or noise, and audio didn't clip in and out. Voices sounded crisp and clear.
On to gaming. The GPU ensures that graphics are on point and, combined with the Full HD IPS screen, overall gaming visuals are marvelous. Video content again benefits from the screen and graphics partnership, with motion blur and image lag now a thing of the past.
To summarize my experiences and the specifications of the LG G2, here are my pros and cons.
The LG G2 is available on all the major carriers for $99 to $199.99 with a 2-year contract. T-Mobile sells it for $99.99 down and $21/month for 24 months or $603.99 full retail price. It is on contract with Verizon Wireless for only $99 on both Wirefly and Amazon. It is available now on all carriers with some software differences and WiFi Calling support on T-Mobile.
The Moto X, HTC One, and Samsung Galaxy S4 are the premier competitors to the LG G2.
